The DB7 has often been referred to as one of the 'prettiest' of the more modern Aston classics and the Vantage V12 is a prime example of this train of thought. This week commercial car photographer Tim Wallace was commissioned to shoot the DB7 V12 Vantage for our client Aston as part of a heritage project.
Introduced in 1994, the Ian Callum designed coupe looked sensational then, and the quality of its design is still apparent today. The Volante, a term adopted by Aston Martin for its convertibles, was introduced two years later, in 1996. Those early cars were powered by a 3.2-litre V6, the 6.0-litre V12 'Vantage' version joining the range in 1999. And despite a hefty price hike, such was the interest in the V12 Vantage version that the V6-powered DB7 was soon redundant, Aston Martin subsequently only offering the DB7 with V12 power, in 'Vantage' (high performance) specification. Overall the DB7 has been an extraordinary success and to put that into perspective, over its 87-year history, Aston Martin has only ever made 16,000 cars - of which more than 5000 have been DB7s....

Recently whilst the Ambientlife team were out shooting commercial work in California photographer Tim Wallace took some time out to shoot some personal work on the infamous Alcatraz Island. Beginning in November 1969, the island was occupied for more than 19 months by a group of Aboriginal Peoples from San Francisco who were part of a wave of Native activism across the nation with public protests through the 1970s. In 1972 Alcatraz became a national recreation area and received designation as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
Today, the island's facilities are managed by the National Park Service as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It is home to the abandoned prison, the site of the oldest operating lighthouse on the west coast of the United States.

Nikon this week launched a brochure and review of their professional FX range of camera bodies and lenses in conjunction with European based photography magazine 'Digital SLR' magazine and some of the work of car photographer Tim Wallace was chosen to be featured to help demonstrate the quality of their optical lenses for the FX lens feature. The photograph features the legendary Shelby GT500. The GT500 is one of the best known from the Shelby stable and is very evocative of the era in which it became a working class hero.
In 1964, Carroll Shelby was asked to enhance the performance of the new Ford Mustang, and the legendary GT350 was born. Initially just for racing, the 1965 GT350 R Model began its dominance on American racing circuits and making a name for itself by winning the SCCA B production championship in 1965, 1966 and 1967.
Ford wanted to put a version on the street known as the GT350 The GT350 was essentially a de-tuned and reworked R Model and it catapulted Mustang into the world of high performance. It became one of the most popular and recognizable brands in the automotive industry. The performance evolution continued with the famed king of the road, the GT500.
