Passion and Light
This month AP Magazine published an article by writer and photographer Damien Demolder, looking at the association between how passionate we feel about a subject, and the resulting images that come from having that emotional investment in the work that we are lighting and shooting. The article centred around an image of a wood chipper from commercial photographer Tim Wallace that was shot for one of his clients, Forst. Not the most appealing or sexy of subjects but one that is a good example of what can be achieved with careful lighting and passion for the final the work to be completed.
Damien - “When Tim posted this shot on LinkedIn one of the commentators, not a native patron of arboreal munching apparatus, remarked, ‘Never wanted a wood chipper so much!' When desire lights in the viewer who has no natural affinity for your subject, you can be satisfied in a job well done.”
Tim - “I love shooting this type of job because the subjects are not "sexy", but with some effort and skill they can be transformed into something eye-catching for my client and their customers. At the end of the day, this is important for them so it's important to me.”
